About the L.E becoming stronger if we use it as the currency of the Suez Canal:
The shocking truth?
The L.e is not weak because of the Currency of the Suez Canal.
the L.e Is weak because it's INTENTIONALLY weak by the central bank to improve the economy.
It's the same reason China or Japan go insane when their currencies get more powerful, because it increases inflation and weakens their economies.
the point is, without intentionally weakening it, the l.e is already worth around 0.3 Dollars. The L.e is tied to the dollar, however they "floated" it in the early 2000's as a method of economic reform akin to China and Japan. Based on the economic stance taken by the (faulty) government. Our economy has actually IMPROVED because of the weakening of the pound (Although the problem is the people never benefited )
for summary read:
notably : (i) Improved exchange rate management, building on the floating of the Egyptian pound and currency depreciation of 2003-04;
and "Egypt is among the world’s 10 most active reformers for the fourth time based on the Bank’s 2010 “Doing Business” rankings. The country moved up to 106 from 116 among 183 economies worldwide in the overall ease of doing business ranking. Egypt made business start-up less costly, expedited the construction permit process, expanded the information available from the private credit bureau, and created commercial courts to speed up contract dispute settlements."
"Pointing out the positive aspects of the free-floating system, Galal said that it will unify the rate in the foreign exchange market and will reflect positively on exports, making Egyptian goods cheaper on the international market. It will also promote tourism by making Egypt a cheaper destination. "It will bring transparency to the market and enhance the image, credibility and confidence in Egypt's economy," he said."
We do NOT have the kind of economy Kuwait or the Us or even the EU have. Some of the countries with WEAK currencies in the EU resisted using the Euro because it would affect their economies negatively and were given time to prepare. Eventually yes, our L.E should be extremely strong, but for now, the result would HARM our economy not improve it.
let's look at some more info using Japan as an example:
Notably:
"In addition to making Japan’s exports more costly, further appreciation of the yen may worsen unemployment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced on Tuesday that in the April-June quarter, 3.49 million workers in Japan were categorized as completely unemployed. Those who had been without work for one year or longer rose by 210,000 to reach 1.18 million—the second-highest number ever.
Exchange rate differentials, particularly for labor costs, are making it increasingly expedient for Japan’s manufacturers to shift more production offshore."
In other words, you'd be increasing L.E revenue from the Suez canal, and destroying revenue from every other aspect of the economy.
Is that really what you want?!
In fact, Considering our country's situation now, and for the foreseable future (even with a perfectly amazing democratic non-corrupted government) , increasing the value of the L.E would make investments in the country so much LESS attractive to investors because it would cost more, and let's face it, it's not like we're the pinnacle of quality.
Egypt economy has to be very strong and preferably the exports > than imports before our currency can be "allowed" to be stronger. If your currency is strong your export will not be, because it's gonna to be too expensive for other countries to buy your goods or start Businesses in Egypt or hire your workers.
And believe it or not, there are OTHER countries Egypt trades with other than the USA. Do you know the effect of a stronger currency then?!

About the "Carrefour being looted during revolution video" being spread around :
More misinformed propaganda:
This Video is NOT of the theft, this Video is from one of the retarded sales carrefour has, and was posted LAST YEAR
Be logical, if they were looting and stealing, do you really think they'd leave a guy with a video camera standing there without stealing his camera?
not to mention, has NO ONE noticed that they're only taking CERTAIN items?
I'll find the video posted last year and link it asap if you don't believe me.
I can't find that one yet, but here are a few similar ones. and btw, that offer was "Shekaret el Roz be 3ashreen Geneeh" (a Satchel of rice for 20 L.E)
Other similar offer videos (note the days posted)
And no, i'm not at all denying that it WAS looted, but the point is, these videos are NOT of the looting.

About Sally Zahran being Veiled and her parents asking for us not to distribute the unveiled pictures.
This is where i'm going to get offensive.
Anyone that is against this picture, is an idiot and does not respect personal choice. I'm not even going to discuss it. I have Zero tolerance for debate on this.
Sally choose to live without wearing the Hijab. And she choose to die without wearing it. She Might have worn it at some point in her life, but she CHOSE to die fighting for Egypt without it.
The fact that people are distributing an image of her in a Hijab (and mind you nothing really confirms that the "sally" in a veil is really even Sally) and demanding people remove the image without the Hijab IS DISRESPECT OF SALLY'S CHOICE.
I don't care if her mother really does cry on some channel, THIS IS SALLY'S CHOICE, NOT YOURS & NOT HERS!
Ask yourself this, Where did the original picture come from? Wasn't it from her friends? Couldn't it have been from her Facebook? In fact, how many people spreading the "We must not post her unveiled picture" even know the girl personally? Did you ask yourself WHO GAVE THE MEDIA THE ORIGINAL PICTURE IN THE FIRST PLACE!? Surely it was someone that knew her well and loved her enough to want her to be remembered. And THIS is what you're arguing about?!
RESPECT THE CHOICE OF SOMEONE THAT GAVE THEIR LIFE FOR YOUR FREEDOMS, AND STOP BEING IDIOTS!!!

The Constitution:
In case you missed it. We have no constitution right now. Our constitution is NOT being amended, rather we are getting a new one based on our old flawed one. This is the time to push for a COMPLETELY new constitution.
Why? Basically the "Constitutional modifications" that are supposedly going to occur in Egypt. Technically speaking, the constitutional modifications being done are unconstitutional based on the current constitution. Meaning that in reality, the constitutional modifications are not actually just a modification. But rather a complete replacement of the current constitution, with a modified version of the current one. (yes it's confusing but think about it). So since we're replacing the constitution anyway, why are we still basing our new one on the extremely flawed "current" one?
Further proof, based on the above, it means we either have no constitution, or Mubarak is still in power.
So Why can't we just modify the "current" one?
The Problem is most people haven't actually read the constitution , and don't understand that the few articles being amended aren't enough.
The current constitution is DEEPLY flawed. It's core is a constitution created by AbdelNasser to maintain complete control over the country. It is the constitution created as an alternative to the true democratic liberal constitution of 1954 that was never implemented. Every revision made since has increased the flaws, not decreased them. Even if every amendment made is reversed, and the amendments we want get put in place, the constitution would still be horrible compared to for example, the western constitutions or a modified version of the 1954 constitution.
For example, there are NO methods of checks and balances between Judicial, Executive and legislative powers in the constitution.
Also, the next president (whoever he maybe) will still have supreme power over the Judicial , legislative and Executive powers.
Both of these problems alone are a disaster in and of themselves, so imagine the rest?!?
Just as another example, there is NO planned modification (or Demands really) of the laws relating to political parties, even though the constitutional laws relating to the political parties are a disaster.
There are no planned modification on Union laws.
Don't believe me? http://www.almasryalyoum.com/en/news/military-council-greenlights-change-6-constitutional-articles
Quote:
"The decision adopted by the military authorizes the panel to consider the abolition of Article 179, along with amending articles 88, 77, 76, 189, 93, and all other relevant articles which may need to be removed to ensure the transparency of the electoral process.
Article 77 of the Constitution does not set a limit for presidency periods. Article 88 annuls judicial oversight over the elections. Article 93 meanwhile grants parliament sole authority for determining the legitimacy of MPs' memberships.
Article 189 gives the president and the People's Assembly an exclusive right to amend the constitution, while Article 179 on counter-terrorism restricts people's freedoms and rights."
Does it mention anything about presidential powers or methods of checks and balances? nope.
Still Don't believe me on the over all point of this section? Don't take my word for it, take the word of experts:
"Tharwat Badwy, a respected expert on constitutional matters, has stated in an interview with Ahram Online that the constitutional amendments proposed by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, a task now handed to the constitutional reform committee, lacks legitimacy. He stressed that the supreme council is not elected by the public and so does not replace the parliament to propose specific constitutional amendments. He added that he withdrew from the first committee, proposed by the former vice president, after it became clear that the current Egyptian constitution of 1973 isn't legally fit for amending. The January 25 revolution has rendered the current constitution illegitimate and the only course of action now is for a constituent assembly to be elected and draft a new constitution."
Compared to the current one, the 1954 constitution that was never used is a MUCH better basis for our new constitution.
Just so you understand what i mean by the constitutional amendments not being enough, read through the constitution here: http://www.egypt.gov.eg/english/laws/constitution/default.aspx
Compare that one to this one (If you can Read arabic) here and here (Keeping in mind the 1954 one was made in 1954 so it has a bad points in there, that can EASILY be changed, in fact, the constitution is consistent with every GOOD constiution worldwide made at the time and amended further later on)
and
Now do you get it?!

I'll add more responses to retarded "Facts" being spread around if/when i feel like it.
but for now.
People please, do not just believe ANYTHING anyone tells you without thinking, Do some research yourselves, They are going to try to defeat the people with propaganda, do NOTlet that happen.
nice, it'd be much more beneficial -imho- if translated to Arabic, what do you think? i can help with that..
ReplyDeleteI agree! Unfortunately my arabic is very weak.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind, perhaps one of the best constitutions in the world, that of the USA (was the model for the Swiss Constitution), is augmented by the US Bill of Rights ...
ReplyDeleteTo ensure the rights of the people, Egypt will also need a BoR type document.
